Autotronic Controls Corp.was founded in 1970 as a research and development company by two engineers from White Sands New Mexico Missile Range. The men and their other partners were working on a lean burn performance fuel system called the Electrasonic Fuel Induction system to help fuel economy of new and older automobiles.

ACC has produced the best performing and most popular performance MSD ignitions for over 20 years. The high energy performance spark of the CD design combined with multiple sparks resulted in a potent performance ignition. Not only did the multiple spark discharge ignite the lean fuel mixture, it made overall improvements in the engine's performance! Today MSD Ignition encompasses over 84,000 square feet! There are over 400 employees including an excellent core of highly trained MSD engineers, performance technicians, assembly specialists and a host of performance enthusiasts at MSD Ignition.

Together, our team designs, develops, tests and manufactures the entire line of MSD performance products including Ignition Controls, Coils, Timing Accessories and Spark Plug Wires and Accessories. MSD, housed in three buildings includes four MSD performance engine dynos, two MSD performance chassis dynos, complete MSD CNC and machining performance centers, modern shipping and packaging areas plus MSD performance assembly and MSD performance burn-in departments.

The MSD 6AL shares the same proven circuitry of the MSD 6A with the addition of a built-in adjustable rev limiter. The combination of powerful sparks with the safety of a Soft Touch Rev Control is what makes the MSD 6AL the most popular performance ignition control in the world.

MSD first developed the performance Soft Touch rev control to prevent overrev damage to your motor in the event of a missed shift or driveline failure. The rpm limit is adjustable in 100 rpm increments with MSD's plug-in modules. When the engine performance reaches your selected limit, the Soft Touch circuitry begins dropping the spark to various cylinders. On the next cycle, these plugs are fired again to prevent fuel from loading up in the cylinder. The result is a smooth and accurate limiting action without backfires or roughness.

The Soft Touch Rev Control also opens the door for you to add rpm accessories such as a Two Step Rev Control. A Two Step allows you to set two rpm limits, one for a holeshot rpm and another for overrev protection.

The MSD 6AL is supplied with rubber shock mounts and modules for 3,000, 6,000, 7,000 and 8,000 rpm.
