Autotronic Controls Corp.was founded in 1970 as a research and development company by two engineers from White Sands New Mexico Missile Range. The men and their other partners were working on a lean burn performance fuel system called the Electrasonic Fuel Induction system to help fuel economy of new and older automobiles.

ACC has produced the best performing and most popular performance MSD ignitions for over 20 years. The high energy performance spark of the CD design combined with multiple sparks resulted in a potent performance ignition. Not only did the multiple spark discharge ignite the lean fuel mixture, it made overall improvements in the engine's performance! Improved starting, smooth idle, less emissions and more performance power are benefits every car and truck can take advantage of, especially race cars.

Today MSD Ignition encompasses over 84,000 square feet! There are over 400 employees including an excellent core of highly trained engineers, performance technicians, assembly specialists and a host of performance enthusiasts at MSD Ignition.

Together, our team designs, develops, tests and manufactures the entire line of MSD performance products including Ignition Controls, Coils, Timing Accessories and MSD Spark Plug Wires and Accessories. MSD, housed in three buildings includes four MSD performance engine dynos, two MSD performance chassis dynos, complete MSD CNC and machining performance centers, modern shipping and packaging areas plus MSD performance assembly and MSD performance burn-in departments.

MSD is excited to announce the next generation of 6-Series ignition controls - the MSD 6AL-2! The all new performance ignition control combines a new housing, new digital controls and more power in a sleek package. Inside the new cast aluminum housing you'll find an advanced micro-controller that manages the timing and rpm of the ignition. The spark output of the new MSD performance box has been turned up to 535 volts of primary voltage with spark energy reaching up to 135millijoules! The multiple sparks of the MSD 6AL-2 burn in the cylinder for 20 degrees of crankshaft rotation to ensure complete combustion.Two more great features are the rev limits! There are two rev limiters; one for high end overrev protection and another you can activate off a clutch or transbrake to set a launch limit. This feature will help your car blast off the starting line! Adjustments are made via four rotary dials for 100 rpm increment control! The all new capacitive discharge ignition will easily connect to nearly any 12-volt negative ground distributor system  positive locking and water resistant electrical connections. The MSD 6-Offroad will install to virtually any vehicle with a 12 volt electrical system and a distributor. It will connect to points, amplifiers or magnetic pick-ups on 4, 6 (even-fire) or 8-cylinder engines.
